If evolution is true there is no discernable reason that God would have any particular interest in human beings.
Scripture teaches in Psalm 8, “Oh LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
Why? Why is this name “majestic”? And what name is it?
Note the use of all caps in this English translation. LORD (all caps) is the English rendition of the Hebrew YAHWEH. In Hebrew, the plea, “O LORD” contains the tetragrammaton, the Name of God “YHWH”, Yahweh or “YeHoVaH”, and the expression “O LORD our Lord” is originally “YeHoVaH our Lord”, or “YeHoVaH Adoneinu”. Here, then, David the Psalmist recognized both the covenant name of God (LORD) and the position of Yahweh to His people (Lord).
“Covenant name” and a “position” to His people? This sounds important. But how is anything remotely relevant to this true if human beings evolved through purposeless natural processes? Why would God be mindful of such an occurrence in nature?
Scripture asks the same question: “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that your are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?”
Scripture answers this question in a way that makes no sense if evolution is true: “You have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings [or Gods(!) or angels] and crowned him with glory and honor.”
Thus, God’s name is majestic in all the earth because he is the creator of all the earth and everything in it, including human beings! He made human beings different from other heavenly beings but only human beings has he crowned with glory and honor.
Ask yourself, is God’s name majestic if the scripture above is not true? If God did not make human beings? Why?
Ask yourself, is God’s name majestic to you?
If evolution is true God did not make human beings. If evolution is true human beings are not crowned with glory and honor; such language is laughably meaningless. If evolution is true human beings are no different in essence than sea horses and rocking horses. All things, living and dead, are merely matter randomly accumulated according to physics and chemistry.
Is Yahweh (LORD) God in name and relationship? That is, is He lord to you (our Lord)?
If evolution is true, such a statement is highly unlikely because everything said about Yahweh in scripture runs counter to what evolution holds as true.
If Yahweh is truly LORD to you in a true and meaningful way you can join David as he both started and ended his Psalm: O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Because the created universe draws our attention to its Creator. We do not worship the creation—Nature, Mother Earth, sun or stars; we worship the Creator.
Indeed, His creation draws our attention to the GLORY of God.
