Creation happened; we are all here.
Whether we believe forces of nature created us or God created us, there is no denying the fact that because we are here, we all were created.
Knowing we are created, for most of human history very smart people have wrestled with an important existential question: Why do we exist?
For evolutionists the question of why we exist is answered without complication or controversy: there is no reason we exist.
Evolution is a process of nature that creates for no reason and with no purpose. One leading evolutionist once said the quiet part out loud: “Man is the result of a purposeless and natural process that did not have him in mind. This same evolutionist described human beings as being an unplanned state of matter.” (Cite.)
Is this leading evolutionist right? Are we merely an unplanned state of matter created by purposeless and natural processes? Are we merely mobile skin-covered gas and solid matter converters “existing” until we die? If evolution is true, yes.
How can we determine if what this evolutionist believes about us is true?
Here is one consideration: Why do we even wrestle with existential questions? The fact that the question of why is even a question at all should cause us some pause for reflection. What is it in purposeless and unplanned beings like us that any one would even ask the question why? And why do only humans ask that question?
Is it possible that we know in our minds and hearts the same thing that our leading evolutionist had to admit? Namely: “Among all the myriad forms of matter and of life on the earth, or as far as we know in the universe, man is unique.”
Unique? Why? What is unique about human beings that can be explained by matter banging about the universe from the Big Bang?
Maybe, just maybe, humans are unique for reasons that evolution cannot explain.
Maybe, just maybe, we are created by God in His image. And maybe it is the very image of God we carry with us that drives us to unrest in the unyielding question of “why do we exist”?
We all know deep within us that there is a reason we exist. We know it in our minds and in our hearts. What does this mean? Do not discount the pull of your heart on issues such as this. Blaise Pascal once stated the truth: “The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of… We know the truth not only by the reason, but by the heart.” (Cite.)
Trust your heart on this one. Do not be satisfied with the “no reason to exist” evolutionary story. Stubbornly follow your heart and you will discover that you were created by God in His image for a reason.
And then the sky’s the limit.
